Minor in Music

About the minor

The Minor in Music is designed for students who are interested in supplementing their prior experiences in music or wish to gain a broad introduction to the study of music. The flexible curriculum allows students to explore diverse areas in music with multiple course options to personalize the experience.

Our minor expands students' understanding of how music can intersect with other fields of study and allows them to develop additional skills that complement the marketable competencies and knowledge they acquire in their majors. Students who earn a Minor in Music often pursue careers in fields such as arts administration, marketing, teaching, game design, computer programming, and other similar professions.

Students electing applied study and/or ensemble participation should contact the Dana School of Music at 330.941.3635 or music@ysu.edu for information.
