Web and Digital Design combines the study of web design, internet technologies, digital animation, graphics, and computer programming/scripting with written and oral communication skills, graphic arts, and business knowledge. This comprehensive approach prepares students for careers in information technology, entrepreneurial opportunities, or transfer to a bachelor’s degree. Students who complete the required coursework earn an Associate of Applied Science degree.
The program of study includes two primary areas. The primary focus is on information technologies. Students use industry-standard software to develop digital media applications such as simulations, digital animations, multimedia (audio, video, graphics), electronic publications, and dynamic websites. Students also learn fundamental programming used in web development, such as JavaScript and its essential libraries and frameworks.
Second, students study writing, statistics, public speaking, and art to foster skills vital for career advancement or continued education. They learn to express critical ideas both in writing and verbally in a logical and concise manner, enabling their creativity to contribute effectively to their success. Finally, students choose from a variety of electives based on their interests and desired goals.
