Ohio Transfer 36 (OT36)
Formerly known as the Ohio Transfer Module (OTM), OT36 is a subset or a complete set of another college's or university's general education requirements that represents a body of knowledge and academic skills common across Ohio public colleges/universities, containing 36- 40 semester hours or 54-60 quarter hours.
Ohio Transfer 36 course(s) or the full Ohio Transfer 36 completed at one college or university will automatically meet the requirements of individual general education course(s) or the full Ohio Transfer 36 at another Ohio public college/university once the student is admitted. Students may be required, however, to meet additional general education requirements at the institution to which they transfer.
Upon successful completion of the OT36 model at YSU, a notation will be recorded on the student’s official academic transcript in the semester following the completion of the OT36 model.
Ohio Transfer 36 Model (OT36) for YSU students
Students are encouraged to consult with an academic advisor to identify OT36 approved courses. Not all courses within the general education model satisfy OT36 requirements. Only courses designated as OT36 approved will apply toward the OT36 model.
- English Composition/Oral Communication (minimum of 3 credit hours)
- Mathematics, Statistics and Logic (minimum of 3 credit hours)
- Natural Sciences (minimum of 6 credit hours plus one lab course)
- Social and Behavioral Sciences (minimum of 6 credit hours)
- Arts & Humanities (minimum of 6 credit hours)
- Additional 12 credit hours of OT36 approved coursework
Alternative Credit
Students may be awarded credit towards their academic program through methods other than completing courses at Youngstown State University. For information about alternative credit such as AP, CTAG, CLEP, DSST, etc. should consult the Alternative Credit page in the catalog.
